MONTOYA TO MISS BAHRAIN GP
Juan Pablo Montoya will miss the Bahrain GP after fracturing his shoulder whilst playing tennis. McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa will take the Columbian's place for the weekend.

FIA BANS JEWELLERY
The FIA has banned the wearing of jewellery by race and rally drivers with immediate effect. Several current F1 drivers wear items of jewellery and will no longer be allowed to do so whilst driving, due to the risk of burns during a fire.

PLOWMAN INJURED IN ITALY
British karter Martin Plowman suffered a punctured lung as a result of a first heat accident in round one of the Italian Open International Kart Championship at Lonato on Saturday. Plowman underwent emergency surgery and is now in a stable condition.

BUCKNUM TO RACE IN IRL
Jeff Bucknum has passed his IRL rookie test and will drive for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing at Twin Ring Motegi and Indy. Bucknum is the son of Ronnie Bucknum, a former Honda F1 driver in the 1960's who also competed at Le Mans and in Indy Car.

MINARDI THIRD DRIVE FOR LEE?
Marchy Lee could become the first Chinese driver to test a Formula One car over the course of a GP weekend if a deal to become the Minardi third driver is successful. Lee has apparently secured funding ahead of Nicholas Kiesa who was expected to land the drive. The first Chinese driver to actually test a F1 car was Ho Pin Tung who drove a Williams last year.

ENGINE LOOPHOLE CLOSED

AINTREE DEVELOPMENTS TO DAMAGE CIRCUIT
Building developments to the horse racing venue will mean that a part of the original Grand Prix circuit will be dug up. The circuit hosted five Formula One races from 1955 to 1962 and plans were afoot to bring racing back to the circuit. A festival was held at the track last November.

MINARDI INJUNCTION WITHDRAWN
The FIA have announced that Minardi have withdrawn their injunction that allowed them to compete in the first qualifying session. Minardi have converted their cars to the 2005 aero spec and will now compete in the rest of the Australian Grand Prix meeting.

MCLAREN AND STEINMETZ
Swiss based diamond company, Steinmetz, have entered an associated partnership with McLaren, starting at this weekends Grand Prix in Melbourne. Steinmetz previously partnered Jaguar Racing in Monaco last year with diamonds encrusted into the cars nose. Famously, one was lost when Christian Klien crashed.
